Alison Bechdel — Lesbian Feminist Cartoonist Who Gave Us the Bechdel Test [Jupiter Stone]

Alison Bechdel came out as a lesbian when she was a teenager, an act which forced her father to confront his own closeted self and ultimately led to his suicide. Struggling and unable to find work, Alison created a comic strip that would cement her as one of the most prominent lesbian voices in the United States and launch what we all know today as "The Bechdel Test."
